About the event
‘Search for a Popstar’ is an annual event established in 2008 with the aim of providing a family entertainment and opportunity for children within the Illawarra community aged between 8 and 15 years to participate in an exciting music event. The events are highly successful which attracts many entrants and crowds of between 2,000 to 3,000. The community voting SMS competition received over 3000 votes. There was great support from the local business community with 32 businesses on board as either sponsors or event partners. The Popstar Australia web site has over 20,000 hits during the event. Supporters for the event have been Illawarra Mercury / Advertiser, Wave FM and Southern Cross 10, Infinity Event Management, The Portofino, Akele Kinnas and Co Chartered Accountants, Xperimental Studios , Mr Limousine and Westfield Figtree as without their help this event would not be possible. Special mention is given to The Park Trent Properties Group (Diamond Sponsor) for there major involvement last year. Unfortunately there will be no Search for a Popstar for 2011..We are at present looking at continuing in 2012. |
